System Maintenance - MV AOS/VS

System maintenance or clean up is needed on every system. Some users have neglected system maintenance and experience many problems that are directly related. It is very important to check your disk space regularly. You will need to check the directory and the disk that mc resides on.

    1. At the CLI prompt )

      Type: DIR :MCADATA
      Type: SPACE
      Press <ENTER>

    The system will display:

      MAX: 1000000 CUR: 500000 REM: 500000

The first number is the total space within the directory. The second number is the space now used, and the third number is the space available for use. Multiply these numbers by 512 to get the actual bytes. To get the space available on the drive, repeat the steps above. For example, if the mcadata directory were on the :DD00 drive, you would:

      Type: DIR :DD00
      Press <ENTER>

      Type: SPACE
      Press <ENTER>

    2. Files that can be deleted in the mcadata directory:

      TM+
      TEM+
      SORT+
      DRIVER+
      DRV+
      XF+

Note: Do not delete these files when the system is in use!
