How Does the Loan Count Work?

Each of the processes discussed below are triggered at the time a new loan or pool is added to the system. If an MB loan is added, the MB count procedure is triggered. If a new pool is added, then the Pool (PD) count is triggered. But each of the procedures triggers an MC OFFICE Software tally if the customer owns MC OFFICE Software. This tally is just adding the current totals found in the right-hand (Loan Count) column of the Software Licensee Record. If the adding of a new loan did not make an immediate change to the counter, then MC OFFICE Software will not show a difference. This, for example, would be the case when a new loan is added in the middle of the month for an LS customer as further explained below.

MB - Mortgage Banker
The Mortgage Banker package keeps a running count of all loans added to the MB package for the year. The count starts over each year. Each time you add a new loan, you will see the count for MB increased by one on the Software Licensee Record screen. You will also see the MC OFFICE Software count increase by one if MC OFFICE Software is owned. The total for MB will be zeroed out when a customer puts on a new loan in a new year. The MC OFFICE Software count would immediately reflect the change. HMDA loans entered in 998 for each do not add to the loan count for MB. The following list shows the different ways to put loans on the MB package that will add to the loan count:

    * NEW LOAN - APPLICATION (01.03)
    * 1003 LOAN DATA TO MB (01.04.02)
    * RESERVATION - WHOLESALE (01.15.01)
    * NEW LOAN - CLOSE (01.15.05)
    * NEW LOAN - SELL (01.15.06)
    * COPY LOANS (01.15.04)
    * RECEIVE OTHER ORIGINATOR (01.04.10)
    * ENTER LOAN IN - MB (01.04.11)

LS - Loan Servicing
The Loan Servicing package does a full loan count of all active loans. This is the figure you will see on the Software Licensee Record screen. This count is done monthly and is triggered by the first new loan that is put on the system. If no new loans are put on the system during that month, the count will not change. But the count will get updated in a following month when a new loan is put on the system. The MC OFFICE Software count will reflect the number of loans that were counted. For example, if 20 new loans have been added and 30 loans have been removed before the first loan of a new month was added, then when a new loan is added the MC OFFICE Software count will have decreased by 10 (assuming no other activity from other packages has taken place). The LS count will also be 10 less than the previous count. The paths that activate the counter for LS are:

    RECEIVE MB ACCOUNTS (03.22.02)
    ENTER LOAN MANUALLY (03.22.03)
    RECEIVE MC CUSTOMER (03.22.05)
    RECEIVE OTHER SOURCE (03.22.06)

PD - Pool Disbursement
Pool Disbursement is the same as Loan Servicing. The path that activates the counter process for PD is:

    NEW POOL SETUP & MODIFY (04.07)

CA - Construction
Construction keeps a running count just as MB does. The difference is when the first new loan in a new year is added, the system will do a count of all active loans. You will then see the number of active loans on the Software Licensee Record screen. This means if loans have been removed during the year, that decrease will not show on the Software Licensee Record screen until after the first loan in the next year is added. The paths that activate the counter process for Construction are:

    NEW LOAN (02.21.01)
    RECEIVE MB LOAN (02.21.04)

Menu Upgrade
Doing a Menu Upgrade will also recount the loans for all packages except MB. The Menu Upgrade requires operators to be off the system but does not require a security clearance to do a call program.
