System Configuration - MV AOS/VS

It is important to have a printout of your system configuration as well as a system tape. Please run two copies of the printout and mail a copy to MC System Support. To gather this information, you must be at the AOS/VS CLI prompt ). This can be done with a call program from the MC software or, if you have access, log directly into the CLI.

1. Printout of Configuration

    Type SYSINFO
    press <ENTER>

Information about your system will be displayed. The last line displays the current system name. Write this name down, for example MV2000_SMI.PR.

    Type DIR :SYSGEN
    press <ENTER>

    Type TYPE/L=@LPT (SYSTEM NAME).CSF
    press <ENTER>

Drop the .PR from the system name. If your system printer is a different name, use that in place of the LPT.

2. System Configuration Backup Tape

To make a system tape, place a blank tape on the tape drive.

    Type DIR :SYSGEN
    press <ENTER>

    Type SYSTAPE @MTx0 (SYSTEM NAME)
    press <ENTER>

Drop the .PR from the system name.

Use your tape drive letter in place of the x and the system name obtained from the SYSINFO. A tape will be written with your customized system files and the MV AOS/VS necessary to create a new system drive. This will not backup any of your own data or program files that do not come from Data General on a blank system. Label the tape with the date and system name, also write SYSTEM TAPE on the label so you know what it is. Store this tape in a safe place. This will complete the process of creating a system tape.

3. MC recommends that all ports on the MV be configured as standard terminal ports

    /605X/LPP=24/CPL=80/BAUD=9600/PARITY=NONE/CHARLEN=8
    /STOPBITS=1/BREAK=BMOB/TCC=40000/TCD=5000/TDW=1000
    /THC=2000/TLT=2000 /ON/ST/EB0/ULC/WRP

On a printer, change the following characteristics only:
    LPP=66/CPL=132

*BAUD rate may very depending on equipment settings*
