How do I set up a SmarTerm Telnet session through a proxy server?

Answer

Start SmarTerm.

Click on the File then New Session . . .

Select Data General Dasher Session.

Select Telnet Connection.

Either select the IP address of your proxy server (e.g., 128.254.1.250) or the IP address of your UNIX system.

Your proxy server may display an additional prompt. If it does, follow the prompts for your proxy server.

NOTE: You may need to press <Ctrl+M> for a carriage return, a <NEW LINE> will not work. (Data General Dasher <ENTER> key is a new line, not a carriage return.)

This will bring up the UNIX login.

Log into UNIX with your assigned user name and password.

When you exit, it will close the session and put you back in the SmarTerm session you where in previously.
