Data Manager

Question

I designed a report in Data Manager and would like to have some columns total and some to average. Can I do this?

Answer

In Data Manager reports, you can total a column, average a column, and some can be weighted. In the first 12 positions (spaces), you cannot use the option to total, average or weight. In positions 13 through 132, you can use the options.

To total, average or weight a column, you select the report number in any of the following Data Manager options:

      Mortgage Banker (01.14.05.2)
      Loan Servicing (03.21.11.2)
      Pool Disbursement (04.13.21.2)
      Credit Line (05.14.06.2)
      All Packages in MTK (06.14.01.2)

After the report has been created, enter <F4>PARAMETERS. You will next be asked for a starting sequence number. The sequence number is to the left of the field choices selected for the report. Enter the sequence number you would like to start with. When you have entered the number, a screen will open displaying six options for this sequence:

    TOTAL FIELD
To total a column, enter a 1. This works like a toggle switch and will change the N to Y. The column will then total.

    AVERAGE FIELD
Use the same process for the option to average. Enter a 2 and the N will change to Y.

    WEIGHT AGAINST FIELD
Indicate the field to weight against. The field does not have to be called on the report.

    FIELD SIZE
This will allow you to increase or decrease the size of the field. It is best to reduce only non-numeric fields. If you decrease a numeric field, the field could be too small to hold the total figure.

    JUSTIFY FIELD
If you choose to modify the justify field option, it is best to use only on numeric fields. Some numeric fields need right justify and others need left justify. You should not have to change this option often. If a field has leading zeros to the left or trailing zeros to the right, this would govern whether to change the justification.

    HEADERS
There are three lines of up to 10 characters to label columns. If the field size in option 4 is less than 10 characters, the header size will be limited to one character less than the field size indicted. The program defaults in as many characters of the header as the field size allows. By abbreviating or changing the spacing, you can improve the appearance and clarity of the report.

NOTE: When you are in the report, you can enter <SCF3> for help if you have further questions.
