Tips in Y2K Testing

Testing MUST be done in chronological order.
DO NOT change date back after advancing during testing.

Command Date (03.25.09)

No transaction updates will be allowed beyond this date. Some companies use this as a reminder to run the Interest Accrual Payable routine. If you pay interest on escrows, the date will be the first of the next month. If you don't pay interest on escrows, the date is probably set at 12-01-99. The Command Date will need to be moved beyond your System Date at time of testing to allow updates. This can be done in two ways. The first is to run your interest accrual payable on the first of each month as you advance through the testing dates. The second is to go into the path (03.25.09), delete the old Command Date and enter a future date. You must have a Command Date.

If you skip running the Interest Accrual Payable or Due for a month, a call program will need to be run to advance the date. If this happens, you will receive the message "ACCRUALS HAVE ALREADY BEEN PROCESSED FOR THIS MONTH." The call program to advance this date without running the actual accrual is protected with a daily password. You will need to call MC Support to adjust the date.

Investor Cutoffs (03.17.09)

If you plan to skip running the cutoffs for some months, or plan to run the cutoff on a different day of the month, you must make modifications to the Master Investor File in (03.25.04). Change line 7 to be the "day of the month" you want to run the cutoff. Also change lines 12 and 13 to be the last time you would have run the cutoff had you not skipped a month or more. The time between that date and the date you are running the cutoff needs to be a logical monthly cutoff period.

Escrow Analysis (03.12.12)

A logical analysis cannot be performed unless you actually pay the escrows as scheduled. It is a good idea to select a few loans to pay everything as scheduled and include ONLY those in your analysis. This can be accomplished by entering a unique date in Field 92 of the Master Record for those loans. Remember to start the analysis 45 to 60 days in advance of the date in Field 92.

Year End Save Procedures (03.17.20)

No updates will be allowed when you advance your system date to a new year until this is run. The program will only allow this to be run once each year.

Locked Loans

All the same rules apply in testing that apply in your day-to-day routines. When an update process is being run, no one else can be in an update or modification screen. It is a good idea to press <SCF4> (<AltF4> on a PC) to view a list of all users on the system and where they are before updating. If you forget to check and a message is displayed "Loan XXX-XXXXXXXXXX is locked on terminal XX," do not break out of the update process (that will corrupt files). Have the other person exit the loan and the update process should continue when <NL> or <ENTER> is pressed.
